Carlo Castellano is a Seattle painter who was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.  His early artistic influences were formed from encounters with self-taught and formally-trained artists that flourished in Latin America in the Sixties and Seventies, many of which have recently achieved international acclaim.  His formal training began in the late Sixties with the Cuban painter, Gelasio Jimenez who introduced him to the techniques of oil painting. Later in the Eighties in New Orleans he apprenticed with Jose Ferrara (trained at the Barcelona School of the Arts) in the practice of restoring paintings, gold-leaf frames, and antiques.  From there he launched his own art restoration and handling business that revolved around the emerging and exciting art scene developing in New Orleans in the Eighties and Nineties.  Since then, he has resumed his primary interest in painting and is currently working on a series of oil paintings inspired by his personal experiences.
